Free Computer Classes in Malahide Library from 3rd September

If you or someone you know would like to avail of free computer classes, details can be found below:

Free Computer Classes in Malahide Library

Classes are starting on Wednesday 3rd September 2014

Class times are:

9am to 11am
11.15am to 1.15pm
2pm to 4pm
4.15pm to 6.15pm

Each participant will receive 8 hours training.  For example, if you booked onto the 9am class, your first class would be 9am on Wednesday 3rd September, the second class on Wednesday 10th September, the third class on Wednesday 17th September and the last class on Wednesday 24th September.

Water off to Gainsborough and surrounds

Fingal County Council has advised that a contractor has hit the main at Gainsborough and as a result water is off for repairs.  It is expected to have water back by 6pm.

Areas affected:   Gainsborough, Abbington, Castle Heath.

Temporary Closure of Baskin Lane

Fingal County Council has made an order for the temporary closure of Baskin Lane, Kinsealy from Tuesday 19 August to Wednesday 20 August from 7.00am to 7.00pm to facilitate road resurfacing.

Submissions invited on Local Property Tax Rate

Fingal County Council is inviting written submissions from the public specifically covering the potential effects on businesses, individuals and local authority services of varying the basic rate of the Local Property Tax.

Submissions must be received by Monday 25 August and further details can be viewed here.

Malahide/Portmarnock Advisory Notices re Bathing Removed

Fingal County Council placed Advisory Notices on all designated bathing areas in the County because of heavy rainfall over the August Bank Holiday weekend.  Bathing Water Samples were taken on Tuesday morning, 5th August 2014 and the Central Laboratory, Marrowbone Lane issued results today, 7th August 2014.

Results at the following beaches were of good and excellent quality and Notices will be removed immediately :
Malahide Beach, Portmarnock Beach, Burrow Beach Sutton, Claremont Beach, Hampton Cove Balbriggan, Balcarrick Beach Donabate .

THE GREAT MALAHIDE QUIZ – Thursday 24 July

THE GREAT MALAHIDE QUIZ | MALAHIDE FESTIVAL: The  “Great Malahide Quiz“ is being held this year in the Tara Suite at the Grand Hotel on Thursday next, 24 July, at 8pm and will mark the opening of the Malahide festival.

The entry fee is €40 per team of 4 so please go along and support the wonderful work done by the Malahide Tidy Towns Committee.

Traffic Disruption from Tuesday 3 June to September re Malahide Interim Drainage Scheme

We have been advised by Fingal County Council as follows that planned works on the above scheme will cause traffic disruption:

Planned Works – Malahide Interim Drainage Scheme – June – September 2014
Fingal County Council wishes to notify residents of Church Road/The Hill Malahide that works will commence on the Malahide Interim Drainage Scheme on 03/06/2014. These works are required to upgrade the existing foul sewage and storm water infrastructure to ensure the long term sustainability of these systems. These works will be carried out in 2 phases;

Phase 1:  From Grove Road to Back Road junctions along The Hill commencing on 03/06/2014 and lasting for approximately 4-6 weeks. It is hoped that traffic disruption will be at a minimum.

Phase 2: This work is expected to commence in early July on Church Road between Grove Road and St. Margaret’s Avenue and this will last for approximately 8 weeks.  A one way system will be implemented for this phase, operating south bound along Church Road with a diversion in place from The Hill via Grove Road and The Mall, Malahide.
