We have previously posted about the potential traffic chaos in Malahide by the proposed onshore cabling for the North Irish Sea Array project. Below a link to a presentation we shared with local councillors on the alternative that is cheaper, shorter and will not cause traffic chaos. The Forum have made a submission to An Bord Pleanala consistent with the presentation.

I understand the wind farm will be circa 15km off the coast of Balbriggan. Cables will run under water the 15km to the shore at Balbriggan.
I strongly ask NISA to consider running the cables under water all the way to Baldoyle, the nearest land point to the planned sub-station.
It is about 30km from Balbriggan to Baldoyle. If cables can run underwater for 15km, why not for 30 km?
This would avoid digging up over 30km of roadway or other land. The time and cost savings I’d think would be huge.
I’ve already filed a request about this with NISA and have no response. We need to push for an answer.
Thanks
