Malahide Castle Concerts 2024 – Residents’ Meeting

The Forum attended a Residents’ meeting last night Tuesday 7th May in Malahide Castle.

In attendance were representatives of Fingal County Council, Festival Republic and the Gardai including Superintendent Barry and Inspector Woods.

Improvement year on year that the Forum has sought have been implemented and we continue to work actively on behalf of the Community.

Summary Discussion
• Complimentary Residents’ allocation of concert tickets 700 pairs. In line with last year’s allocation.
• Promoter confirmed that six concerts. Seven in 2023.
• In response to a question confirmed seek to maintain type of acts appropriate to the venue.
• 27,000 attendees to each concert this year up from 25,000.
• Will be residents’ hotline
• Superintendent Barry any issue of a serious or criminal nature call 999
• Inspector Woods advised to contact any illegal parking or blocking of entrances and they will look to address.
• Queuing system introduced at station will continue this year
• Following a number of residents visit to the licencing court additional gardai paid for by the promoters will be on Old Street and New Street
• Event is a positive opportunity for the Gardai to engage with the Community

Positive commentary from a number of residents.
• Clean up very good last year.
• All agreed improvements year on year and generally well run
• Welcomed they were later this year for junior and leaving certificate

Issues raised which Fingal and Festival Republic committed to addressing
• Speeding on Kinsealy Lane
• Concerns raised with regard lengthy sound checks
• Buses turning in the Bawn Grove
• taxi / vehicle access when concert goers leaving. Inspector Woods said a health and safety issue and can’t have vehicles mix with pedestrians
• Castleway asked for extra cones in the estate
• Leaflets for the complimentary tickets did not come to a lot of estates. Fingal and promoter to follow up
• Additional portaloos to accommodate the additional concert goers in particular in village area and on route to concert

    I do not see any reference to Flora and Fauna, I thought that there would be an EIA carried out and a report on the same. What protections are proposed from Noise, Light, and Air pollution from diesel generations running all night?
