Urgent Notice – Reservoirs serving Balbriggan and Malahide/Portmarnock

From Fingal County Council on 28 May:

Water levels at both reservoirs are dangerously low and there is a risk of the reservoirs running dry if consumption continues at the current rate. Consumers in the Balbriggan and Malahide/Portmarnock areas are urgently requested to use water as sparingly as possible for the next 24 hours or until repair work is completed on the 30” watermain at Forest Road, Swords. It would be a great help if all consumers were to use water sparingly. Further updates will be provided as relevant information comes to hand.

Shorter Public Opening Hours for Malahide Garda Station

From 30th April the hours Malahide Garda Station will be open to the public have been cut further so the public desk will now be closed from 9pm to 7am. The current telephone number remains 6664600 but during the reduced hours calls automatically divert to the District Headquarters in Coolock.

Great News for Casino House

It has been announced today by Minister Leo Varadkar that the Fry Model Railway will be re-housed in Casino, thus restoring this historic building from the sad state it is currently in. Malahide Community Forum is delighted with this news and sincere thanks are due to the late Michael Gaffney for his generous gift which has made this possible.

Malahide Castle & Gardens Progress

As the new restaurant will not be ready to open in July, Fingal County Council now proposes to open the Castle and Gardens in a phased manner.

Phase 1 will involve the opening of the redeveloped Castle including the museum, the elevator to the 1st floor and the west lawn and will take place at the beginning of July 2012.

Phase 2 will involve the opening of the redeveloped Courtyard including the visitor centre, retail shop and the AVOCA restaurant and shop and the walled garden. This will take place in early September, 2012.

Estuary Recycling Centre | Extended Opening Hours Mon-Sat

Monday-Friday : 8am to 8pm
Saturday : 8am to 6pm

Seabury Volunteers Needed

We are looking for replacement volunteers to deliver The Malahide Guardian newletter to houses in Seabury. There are only 3 issues per year and it would take just a short time to deliver to your own road.

Malahide Garda Station

Following the announcement that from March Malahide Garda Station will close between the hours of 10pm and 6am, a letter of clarification on the link below has been received from Sergeant Austin Cox assuring residents that there will not be a reduction of service in Malahide.

A Foróige-run Youth Club for 1st to 3rd year students is held in Malahide Tennis Club Junior Room every Thursday from 8-9.30pm. Everyone is welcome to come along, join the Club and have fun with friends.

Youth Cafe for 4th – 6th Year Students

A new Foróige-run Youth Café has been set up in the Leaf & Bean Café in Old Street. It is open every Monday evening from 8pm to 9.30pm and all 4th to 6th year students are welcome to come along, meet new friends or reconnect with old, socialize and share interests.
